We at Breaking Ground are proud to honor JPMorganChase at the 2024 Celebrating Home & Community Gala on October 10th, 2024. Douglas B. Petno, Co-head Global Banking and member of JPMorganChase’s Operating Committee will accept on behalf of the organization.
JPMorganChase has been a key partner in our work since Breaking Ground’s founding, having provided critical financing for more than half of the permanent supportive and affordable apartments across our portfolio, including most recently at 90 Sands in Brooklyn.
JPMorganChase’s philanthropic support has allowed us to make key enhancements to Breaking Ground buildings in the Bronx, including Park House, our first all-affordable building for families with children, and Betances Residence, our first Passive House-certified building and our first senior-specific housing in the borough. Additionally, a grant from the JPMorganChase Foundation played a vital role in helping us to preserve The Christopher in Manhattan last year, now undergoing key capital improvements to ensure that it remains a supportive home to vulnerable New Yorkers for decades to come.
Earlier this summer, a team of volunteers from JPMorganChase provided bags of groceries to the tenants of The Christopher. On average, Breaking Ground tenants subsist on just $10,000 per year, and the grocery initiative helps to stretch food budgets in an era where inflation is causing enormous economic stresses for underserved populations.
“For more than three decades, JPMorganChase’s financing and philanthropic investments have helped thousands of New Yorkers come off the streets and find dignity and security in housing,” said Brenda Rosen, President and CEO of Breaking Ground. “We’re privileged to honor JPMorganChase’s leadership and commitment to communities across the globe, and its role in creating a more vibrant, equitable, and affordable New York City.”
Tickets and sponsorships for the 2024 Celebrating Home & Community Gala are now extremely limited. Please reach out to to Vanessa Miller for more information.
