Teen Board Campaign to Support Seniors

We are so grateful to the Breaking Ground Teen Board for stepping up to help us meet the challenge of food insecurity and to support our senior tenants at four of our sites: The Domenech, Prince George, Redwood Senior Living, and our newest building and first in Queens, Sutphin Senior Housing.

Your support ensures that the older adult tenants of these buildings have access to shelf-stable pantry items to stretch their grocery budgets, special holiday events, and welcome kits for those who will move in for the first time next year.

Breaking Ground is the largest developer and operator of permanent supportive housing in New York City, with nearly 5,000 apartments under management. Our housing serves people who are exiting homelessness and need support to get and remain stable for the long term, and low-income New Yorkers who cannot afford market rents. The fastest-growing demographic among our tenancy is older adults.

On average, formerly homeless tenants of Breaking Ground’s supportive housing sites have annual incomes of just $10,637. As food costs have risen considerably, ensuring food security has become a consistent need and challenge, especially for people living on fixed incomes. Thank you for supporting the Teen Board in addressing this vital cause!
